Le beau geste d’Amar’e Stoudemire pour Kevin Ware

Kevin Ware sera demain sur le banc de Louisville pour soutenir ses coéquipiers mais il sera aussi bien présent dans les tribunes. En effet c’est pas moins de 1 000 pancartes à l’effigie du Cardinal qui seront agitées par le public. Après la blessure de son joueur Louisville a fait appel à un spécialiste de ses pancartes d’évènements sportifs pour en commander 1 000 mais la facture était plutôt salée, 2 500$.

Et c’est Amar’e Stoudemire et sa fondation qui ont mis la main à la poche pour payer la facture. Belle histoire. Rappelons aussi que les joueurs porteront un tee-shirt spécial en hommage au numéro 5.

Kevin Ware will be well represented in the stands when his Louisville Cardinals take on Wichita State in the Final Four Saturday night in Atlanta. Amar’e Stoudemire and his foundation have donated 1,000 Kevin Ware heads for fans to hoist in support of the Cards.

After Ware fractured his leg in Sunday night’s game against Duke, and the team started rallying around him, the Louisville marketing team contacted Build-A-Head, the first company to capitalize off the trend of oversized pictures of heads in the stands at sporting events.

When the $2,500 price for 1,000 heads appeared to be a bit steep, the company’s founder, Bryan Price, got to work. He looked on Twitter at the professional athletes sending messages to Ware and saw a note from New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire. Price had previously worked with Stoudemire’s foundation. A phone call later, Stoudemire’s foundation was on board to donate the heads. Price said on the back of the heads will be the hashtag #winforware and a logo for Stoudemire’s foundation, which aims to makes lives better for at-risk youth.
