Le 8 février 1986 se tenait le troisième Slam Dunk Contest NBA avec cette fois un plateau bien moins impressionnant que les saisons passées. Michael Jordan était blessé, mais le tenant du titre, Dominique Wilkins était bien là, tout comme un certain Spud Webb. Ce dernier a remporté son premier titre en signant deux 50 en finale.
