Dear Mr Kiszla,

My name is Clément Mille, I am a fellow citizen of the so called « international disaster ». I’m not a great basketball player, but I play almost everyday and watch a lot of European, NBA and NCAA basketball. I wanted to give you a brief feedback about what you wrote on the Nuggets 20th pick.

If Evan Fournier is an international disaster how can you explain that he led our hopeful national team to a silver and a bronze medal in the European championship? How can you explain that he received, two years in a row, the best hopeful player of the year award and also the most improved player of the year award? How can you explain that he was the second youngest player to be elected player of the month, the first being Nicolas Batum (You have probably heard of him, he plays somewhere in Oregon and apparently the staff of his team would like to build a team around him and a guy named Lamarcus Aldridge…).

You wrote in your article, that Fournier was a shooting guard who can’t shoot. A quick reminder: the French national league may not be the NBA but it’s not as if it was one of the worst league in the world, the NBA players who played there (Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, Ronny Turiaf, Boris Diaw…) never averaged 50 points a game because we have something called defense! European Men can jump! They know how to block and grab boards. Some of them also know how to steal the ball and put pressure on their opponent! I’m sure Evan is sorry for his 42% but is it that bad? Oh ! Now I realize what your based on! Everybody can’t shoot at 50.1% like Dwayne Wade did in his senior year. Everybody can’t be an NBA All-Star, a future hall of famer, one of the 15 best players in activity… Sorry! But I’m pretty sure Evan Fournier could play a few minutes, score a few points and do a long and brilliant career like so many have done before. He could probably be an excellent teammate the kind of guy you need in a team. You should at least give him the benefit of the doubt instead of mocking him with a pathetic: « where is the library? »

I’m not going to teach you how to do your job because I’m just a graduated student doing his master and trying to learn the language in which you criticized our young talent but, thanks to my studies, I have to read a lot of articles in English and I found that in many cases, articles were constructed with proofs and explanations. But in your article you are just attacking a young man who is working hard and doing his best to improve and to live the experience of a lifetime. So please stop being silly and be a little more fussy about your work before judging what the others do!
I’m pretty sure you receive a thousand e-mails a day but I’d really appreciate if you could find 5 minutes to reply because I want to know a bit more about what you think of Evan Fournier and why you wrote those bad words about him!

Regards
